Bob Dole, Mario Cuomo visit area
SARASOTA - Sen. Bob Dole and Gov. Mario Cuomo are scheduled to appear today for the Ringling School Libary Association Town Hall 2008.
The morning lectures start at 10:30 and the evening lecture at 7 p.m. at the Van Wezel.
Dole, war hero, former senator from Kansas, and presidential candidate, he was also chairman of the National World War II Memorial.
Cuomo was born in a room above the family grocery store in Queens, N.Y., son of recent immigrants. He earned his law degree in 1956 from St. John's University. He was signed by a scout for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team and played in the major leagues until he was injured. He is the longest-serving Democratic governor of New York in modern history
