Godfrey woman missing for weeks found safe and sound in Las Vegas
A 60-year-old Godfrey woman missing since late November has been located in Las Vegas.
Madison County sheriff's detectives on Tuesday said they were informed Monday night that Las Vegas police had made contact with Deborah M. Davis, of 1212 Seiler Road.
Sheriff's Capt. Brad Wells said a Las Vegas officer stopped Davis for an unknown reason while she was driving her own vehicle, a 2003 Chevrolet Impala. Wells said Davis gave no indication that she was a victim of any foul play. The woman said she was in Las Vegas of her own free will, Wells said.
'We still don't know why,' Wells said.
Wells said that because Davis has not committed any crimes and was not the victim of any crimes, his department is no longer involved.
Davis left work at Miller's First Insurance Co. in Alton on Nov. 30 but never met a relative for church in the Greene County community of Carrollton on Dec. 1 and did not show up for work in the following days.
Associates of Davis had told police she liked to visit casinos. Wells said that could be why she went to Las Vegas.
'Obviously it could be. That would be the logical reason,' Wells said. 'But we've not talked to her, so we don't know.'
Wells said Davis' relatives were notified that police had contact with her in Las Vegas. He said it was unclear whether Davis was returning to Godfrey.
