Got a junker?
WANTED: 1940s- to 1950s-era pickup. Chevy or Ford preferred. Rust is ideal. Not necessary that it work, but money is an object. Call Linda Christie at the Tarrant Regional Water District. 817-335-2491
Linda Christie is looking for an old truck.
Not a good one.
Not one that runs.
It just has to sit there and look, well, old.
Christie, community and government relations director for the water district, needs the truck for an exhibit at the new Eagle Mountain Lake Park, scheduled to open this spring.
The 400-acre park will cater to hikers. Plans include two pavilions, a parking lot and restrooms.
But the district also has decided to preserve a windmill, a barn and several other old buildings near the entrance to represent the ranch that once operated at the site. They want to park the truck in the barn.
Christie doesn't want to pay for it. She's hoping someone's got a junker they need to get rid of.
'But heck,' she said, 'we'll put their name on it.'
