North Gaston quarterback A.J. Blue is expected to remain with the team despite a second arrest within six months.
Blue was charged with resisting an officer Aug. 21, three days before his 18th birthday.
According to the citation, Blue did not leave a residence on South Davis Street in Gastonia when asked by an officer, and resisted when the officer attempted to detain him.
Blue played three nights later, leading North Gaston to a 51-12 win against Bessemer City, and also practiced with the team Tuesday. Coach Bruce Clark declined comment.
Blue, a senior, is considered one of the nation's top recruits. He is listed as the No. 25 running quarterback by the recruiting Web site rivals.com, and said he has been offered a scholarship by Illinois.
He also was charged with making a threatening phone call in February, but that was dropped.
Blue led North Gaston to a 10-4 record last season and had 24 touchdown passes and 19 touchdown runs.
He also led the Wildcats to a 26-21 playoff victory against Gastonia Huss on Nov. 17, one day after his brother Demarreo Beard was fatally shot outside a home in Gastonia.
