'Death Imminent' For Baby Who Was Allegedly Choked
An 18-month-old boy, whose condition was listed as "death imminent," was believed to have been choked at a home in the unincorporated El Camino Village area, authorities said Tuesday.
The boy was hospitalized at Memorial Hospital of Gardena, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
Paramedics responded at 11:30 a.m. Sunday to a report of a choking at a home in the 14000 block of Chadron Avenue and found the toddler, Los Angeles County Fire Department Inspector Ron Haralson said.
The child, whose name has not been released, was taken to a hospital in critical condition and was listed as "death imminent" as of 4 p.m. Monday, Deputy Denise Fuchs of the Sheriff's Headquarters Bureau said.
Sheriff's homicide detectives returned to the home Monday to investigate.
"Law enforcement has returned to the house based on what the doctors are finding," Haralson said.
It was unclear who reported the alleged choking or who else was at the home when the boy was found.
