Soggy Weather Puts Damper On Garage Sales
Some might call the Diamond Road neighborhood in Apple Valley famous for its garage sales.
On Saturday, April 26, more than 150 people will open up their garages to people from all over the area.
"People come far and wide for the Diamond Path garage sales," said Jane St. Ores, "They come from Iowa -- they come from everywhere."
St. Ores and eight other families are selling clothes, toys, shoes, housewares, sports equipment and more. They had stuff all of their stuff into her garage to protect it from the rain. Still, she said, that won't scare anyone away.
"If you want the baby clothes, you'll come out in anything," she said.
She started her sale on Wednesday when the weather was sunny and 70 degrees. They laid blankets on the grass, lined the shoes along the driveway, and even got a little sunburn.
"We enjoy visiting three or four of us. Actually, we were talking about needing a margarita," said Wendy Graupmann.
Garage sale shopping-pro Jennifer Goelzer enjoys a good sunny, 70 degree day to shop, but will take the 35 degrees and rain for a bargain.
"You get really good deals because the non-garage sales don't want to be out here. It's only the hardcore ones that are willing to do that," said Goelzer.
The Diamond Path Garage Sales are open Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. You can pick up a map at any garage sale north of County Road 42 between Pilot Knob Road and Diamond Path Road.
