The Valspar Corp. is treating investors to a brighter earnings forecast for 2012 on the heels of a solid second quarter.

The Valspar Corp. reported a 4% increase in sales for the company's second quarter ended April 27 compared to the same period a year earlier, as volumes trended upward for both the Coatings and Paint segments.

Paint and coatings maker Valspar Corp posted a quarterly profit above analysts' expectations for the seventh straight quarter, boosted by increased prices that offset high raw material costs, and raised its forecast for the full-year. The company said it now expects an adjusted profit of $3.20 to $3.30 per share for the year ending October 2012.
