United Retail Group, which began Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings in February, has announced that it is seeking court approval for the acquisition of its operating business by an affiliate of private equity firm Versa Capital Management.

Crain has resigned, effective immediately, and that Chairman of the Board Raphael Benaroya will be taking over his duties while the board of directors searches for a successor for the East Rutherford -based business.
