The Home Depot co-founder Bernie Marcus writes in an Investor's Business Daily editorial published this week that government-led economic engineering under President Barack Obama has failed to the point he fears the free enterprise system that has worked for more than 200 years in the U.S. - "the bedrock of the American Dream"- is slipping away.

The Giving Pledge, which now boasts 81 pledges, was started by Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates in June 2010.

Atlanta based The Home Depot recently launched a special spring initiative on Facebook, called "Doing Nation." This initiative will let consumers turn their outdoor projects into cash for a good cause.
