SXSW Post-MortemCity report ponders how to contain the "Spring Music Festival"

This year's South by Southwest Music Conference & Festival proved the most troubled in the event's 27-year history and it wasn't because of the grand mass of people that assembled throughout the city. Rather, it's a legacy born of the actions of two individuals: L.A. rapper Tyler, the Creator , arrested March 15 for inciting a riot during a daytime Converse/Thrasher party at the Scoot Inn; and Rashad Owens from Killeen, accused of crashing a car through a barricade on Red River Street, killing four people and injuring 20 more.

SXSW 2014: Day 4 Recap

Girls star, creator and SXSW veteran Lena Dunham was a big get for this year's film festival. As one of the most talked-about women in Hollywood, the 27-year-old's attention-getting status was no doubt a big part in booking her as a keynote, but perhaps more attractive than that was Dunham's long history with the festival, which has premiered her two movies, Creative Nonfiction and Tiny Furniture , as well as the first three episodes of Girls , in the past.

Review: Frank

A strange, genre-defying mix of dark and slapstick comedy, Frank follows Jon , a struggling British musician whose life is forever changed when he joins an avant-garde pop band with an unpronounceable name, the Soronprfbs. As the band spends months recording a new album in a remote cabin in Ireland, Jon discovers his bandmates are enormously talented and predictably oddball.
