Taiwan-based notebook ODMs, although still maintaining their shipment forecast for the second quarter, have recently started decreasing their orders to upstream component makers and the actions could possibility reduce their notebook shipment volume in June to lower than expected, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.

Asian stocks fell, with the regional benchmark index snapping a two-day rally, as concerns mounted that Greece may exit the euro zone and the Bank of Japan refrained from deploying further monetary stimulus, dimming the outlook for exporters.

Quanta Computer and Wistron on May 8 reported consolidated revenues for April, decreasing on month by 10.85% and 23.93% respectively.

Quanta Computer announced that it will offer data center solutions for sale under its own brand, QCT, in the North America market during Facebook's Open Compute Summit taking place in San Antonio, Texas, May 2-3. QCT data center solutions combine servers, storage devices and switches made by Quanta, and targeting medium- to large-sized enterprises.

Quanta Computer expects its notebook shipments in the second quarter of 2012 to increase 5-10% on quarter, the company said at an April 27 investors conference.
