Meijer Gardens sells 96 percent of 2014 concert series tickets, tops $3 million in sales

That's an obvious statement for anyone who's paid attention - the outdoor venue officially ran out of tickets in mid-August, when it celebrated its 25th sellout out of 30 total shows. But seeing the numbers in black and white still can be startling: The venue sold 96.24 percent of all available tickets, totaling 54,855 admissions.

Officials with Meijer Inc. have announced plans to hire 10,000 in the coming months, and dozens of those job openings are at Meijer stores in the Bay City area, Saginaw area, Midland and Alma. Meijer officials said the company aims to hire 4,800 in Michigan, 1,700 in Ohio, 1,800 in Indiana, 1,500 in Illinois and 1,000 in Kentucky.
