KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City Southern railroad said Monday that its fourth-quarter profit rose 85 percent to $95.6 million as increases in automotive and intermodal shipments offset rising fuel and executive compensation costs.
Its revenue of $24.8 billion for 2011 was a 38% increase from that in 2011. Shares were slipping 0.55% to $36. Texas Instruments , the analog chipmaker, is expected by analysts to have earned 39 cents a share in the fourth quarter.
