Florida East Coast Railway, headquartered in Jacksonville, signed a 30-year deal this week to take part in a new $72 million facility at Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale.

This month marks the 100th anniversary of the completion of the railway that connected the Keys to the rest of the state , a commemorative exhibit at the Key West Museum of Art and History, includes a re-created Florida East Coast railcar, a replica of a section of the seven-Mile Bridge, vintage footage of the trip from the Middle Keys to Key West ... A top Amtrak official told passenger rail supporters meeting Thursday in Cocoa that he is optimistic trains will stop there, as well as in Titusville and Melbourne, in the coming years.
