My son understands that his job is going to school and getting good grades. How does skipping school to have a party day (making hamburgers, putting on makeup) teach them anything?

These pictures only tell part of the story and making these hamburgers only made up 1 hour of the day.
One child actually made the comment that he might one day be a chef after what he saw and learned in the test kitchen.

Some lessons can't be learned in a classroom.

Agreed. Some lessons can't be learned in the classroom. But you don't need to take the child out of school for those lessons. Do it after school, on weekends, etc. Do it though organizations such as Scouts or Junior Achievement.

Our government education system is bad enough without having students skip school.
