All I care about is how the Red-Tailers feel about this whole merger and all the ramifications? Are ya'll locked into your current bid/domicile for a certain time.

Are ya'll locked into your current bid/domicile for a certain time. i have friends that fly still and can answer this. there's nothing to know just yet. rumor has it that once the merger goes thru planes will shift to match routes and nw crews will work their metal out of atl/slc/cvg etc. and dl crews will work their metal out of msp/mem/dtw etc. unknown yet if new bases will open for each airline, if they will be satellite bases, or crews will be deadheaded around.

i do think the redtailers are excited. the possibility of being treated fairly and respected is making them all happy. we will see if it actually happens. another rumor is that crew complement will go the nwa way....not the better staffed dl way, this is for int'l flights.

Thanks! It's good to be back discussing airline stuff instead of trying to make sense of the troll. This is actually interesting stuff - can't wait to see how this new airline will pan out.

pew are you still with aa? i took an early buyout in january, but stopped flying dec 06 and opened my own business which is doing ok despite the economy. i don't miss flying, and never liked nw, i was former rc. i do live near atlanta though, and being here would have been great after the merge, but i got tired of flying, being away from home and dealing with the public and low pay several years before i left. no regrets. i am hopeful and excited for my friends though, and everyone i know who flies for dl is thrilled to do some asian travel and flights. i have always loved the industry so i follow it closely. i won't ever go back to being a f/a, but if my business doesn't work out down the road, my transportation degree could take me elsewhere in the industry, so who knows?

Yes, I'm with AA, but a dreaded management type. I temper that with the fact that my hubby is a union guy - but like you I follow the news on all the airlines. I'm thinking of taking the package with AA, and need to make up my mind by next week. I'm glad you got out when you did, can't imagine what this merger means for NWA employees. At AA we didn't treat the TWA group very well so I hope the Red Tailer's get a much better deal.

well, anything is better than the way nw treated its front line employees. after all this is a friendly merge, not a sinking airline being picked upon, but i do hate the way the twa employees were treated. i hope dl welcomes nw in. at nw, we rc ducks were treated like step children.

My hubby and I actually flew RedTail from MSP to Anchorage a few times before AA started the route, and I was really impressed with their service in first class. Their meals were definitely better than we're used to at AA - but, that was 5 years ago too!

Of cours he feels it's going smoothly! For $23 million on top of the other thievery he's "entitled" to, he'd think a nuclear strike on his house seemed "smooth."

Has anyone in MSP noticed the campaign adds from Sun Country, on billboards, tv, and I was just at a local parade and was given a button~ that read "Sun Country Home Town Airline"...Wasn't NWA always known as the "Hometown Airline"? They know NWA will be a thing of the past in MN, and they are making sure they remind everyone who will still be here. Good for them!

Hey, here's a GREAT idea. Delta should give the NWA guys the same "FAIR" deal NWA gave the Republic pilots. Hell, they could even have cute different colored contracts for the two groups! For those of you with few years or short memories, please consult with a former Republic pilot for a full briefing on the history one of the most putative seniority list mergers in the history of the airline business.
