Boardings down at Gulfport-Biloxi airport
The Sun Herald reported Gulfport-Biloxi boarded 12 percent fewer passengers from January to July 2014 than it did in the same time period for 2013. Commercial airports in Jackson and Tupelo also saw decreases in air travelers.

Southwest Airlines reported that it filled 85.5 percent of its seats with paying passengers in August, slightly higher than American's load factor of 85.2 percent. Southwest Airlines usually lags behind the field when it comes to filling its seats, with load factors below that of other major carriers.
