Hayward Responds to Takeout Allegations

Charlie Hayward, the embattled and fired chief executive officer of the New York Racing Association, said in a statement May 5 he expects to be fully exonerated from allegations he deliberately tried to hide an illegally high pari-mutuel takeout rate on exotic wagers.

NY Racing Association GC and CEO Placed On Unpaid Leave

New York Racing Association CEO Charles Hayward and general counsel Patrick Kehoe were both put out to pasture on unpaid administrative leave this week, following a report by the New York State Racing and Wagering Board that the NYRA knew of bettors being overcharged by one percent on some types of bets.
