Three TV Stations May Go Dark in Retrans Dispute

Three television stations may go dark as an impasse is looming in retransmission consent talks between Media General and Cox Communications, reports B&C . The affected stations would be WSLS-TV in Roanoke, Va.; WJAR-TV in Providence, R.I.; and WKRG-TV in Mobile, Ala., the story says.

WSLS retransmission contract with Cox Communications to expire soon

Media General's retransmission consent contract expires on May 31. If a new agreement is not reached by then, by law, Cox cannot carry WSLS/NBC channels, 10.1 in HD, 10.2 or Me-TV on 10.3. The retransmission consent agreement, includes a fee cable providers pay to those who provide channels, for example, ESPN or TNT.
