Roger Kalia, age 27, has been selected as the new music director and conductor of the Young Musicians Foundation Debut Orchestra for the next three years.

This week Alec talks with opera singer Renee Fleming, whose singing voice has been described as "double cream." Fleming remembers her professional debut -- "I was just jelly at the end of the first rehearsal" -- and celebrates her long association with The Metropolitan Opera.

Theater director Lorca Peress is directing two one act operas opening this weekend at Queen College's Goldstein Theater.

The Board of Trustees of New Jersey Youth Symphony has appointed Jeffrey Grogan as Artistic Director effective July 1. Grogan joined NJYS nearly a year ago as Music Director and Conductor of the Youth Symphony, NJYS's most experienced and prestigious orchestra.
