Been seeing ads on TV about having a plan should disaster strike. Is anyone really taking this to heart? Are people really getting prepared for natural or manmade disasters? Is anyone starting a group to help each other or is everyone counting on the gov. to save us?

I find it that the people who make the majority of anti-Obama statements only do so because they think of "clever" remarks about the man's name or false information regarding his personal life, history, skin color, etc, but truly lack the intellect to comprehend his plans for America's future or are just too ignorant to accept anything he says, regardless of their true opinions. These people are an embarrassment to our country and yourselves. Need proof? You refer to President Obama as Benito Mussolini, the most notorious Fascist thinker, and leader of Italy during WWII. The knowledgeable Obama haters refer to him as a Socialist, which is found on the far left of the political spectrum. Fascism incorporates aspects from the left of the spectrum but also borrows many from the right as well. Obama is far from a fascist though, so Socialist would have been a more appropriate derogatory reference, so try that next time, it holds a little more merit, which is still very little. Before you label me as a left wing radical, let it be known that I don't approve or agree with everything President Obama does or says. I will give you some respect though, you have the grammatical skills worthy of passing a middle school English class, and that is a lot more than most of the fools that post on here.

Nevermind the run-ons, this is the stuff I like to see. You correctly point out that mindless Obama-haters can't decide if he's a fascist or a socialist. These two political ideologies are not the same thing, but they both have negative connotations in America. So both terms serve the derogatory intent, no matter how ill-informed. Funny you never hear anyone complain about the "socialized" road and bridge system.

The criticism of Obama's overly hopeful supporters during the election is also valid, though. Anyone could see they were setting themselves up for disappointment. These are politicians after all, not messiahs. The strange thing is that he's not turned out nearly as progressive as many of his supporters may have hoped. Have the haters noticed?

Disclaimer: I didn't support either major candidate in the election.

It is sad, though, that politics in the US has become a lot like college football. Most people act more like fans than citizens. This attitude tends to distract from the real issues such as the willingness of BOTH parties to prop up a failed financial system without even a hint of reform. The same systemic problems that allowed the financial industry to crash the real economy last year still exist almost completely unchanged.

It makes future economic catastrophes almost inevitable and BOTH parties were and are still complicit. Since that's the case, it might be a good idea to brush up on survival skills needed for the uncertainty ahead. <---(opinion fudged to stay on-topic)

Keep making good points!
