Fort Smith-based Arkansas Best Corp. says it is freezing its pension plan for employees who are not in a union.

Executives at YRC Worldwide Inc. and ABF Freight System Inc. sent official letters to their employees Thursday explaining their reasons for attempting to buy ABF and subsequently rejecting ABF's offer.
