Old friends, new faces join annual Fine Arts Fiesta
Committee member Gary Womelsdorf shows a quilt that will be displayed at the 57th Fine Arts Fiesta in downtown Wilkes-Barre. The 57th Fine Arts Fiesta begins today on Public Square in Wilkes-Barre. The Fiesta, themed "Our Town, Art Town," runs from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
State grant will help Wilkes train teachers
Wilkes University has received a $548,000 grant from the Pennsylvania Department of Education to prepare teachers to become highly qualified to teach middle school science, mathematics, social studies or language arts.
