Native American Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving comes early to Grant County again this year. On Nov. 14 - 12 days before the official holiday - a public, Native American-derived celebration of thanks will be held at the National Guard Armory in Santa Clara, featuring traditions of food, music and dance that originated long before Pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock.

Strange bird flies skies over Silver City

A strange bird normally only seen in India, Southern Asia, Hawaii and Australia has been making an appearance on West 8th Street in Silver City since mid-September. Melvyn Gelb has been a bird watcher for 25 years, but still considers himself an amateur.

The best volleyball team in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference will come into town tonight to take on Western New Mexico University at 7 p.m. The University of Nebraska-Kearney volleyball squad is undefeated in conference play, at 9-0, and posts an 18-1 record overall to claim the top ranking in the East Division.
