Donning Cougar colors of maroon and gold, more than 250 Jefferson High School graduates took their first few steps into the next chapter of their lives Sunday during the school's 40th annual commencement ceremony.

Mayhew is a native of Martinsburg. She attended Martinsburg High and Shepherd University.
