Table games approval might help Shepherd University

If a table games referendum is passed in Jefferson County next month, revenue from the games at Charles Town Races & Slots is being eyed as a potential funding source to help Shepherd University build a parking garage, officials said Friday.

Apple Butter Festival celebrates 20.....

The Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Department's Apple Butter Festival fell on Halloween this year, just in time to satisfy many a "sweet tooth." "We estimate that we'll make about 4,000 quarts of apple butter this year, and that they'll all be gone in about seven to 10 days," said Doug Pittinger, trustee of the department.

"FLUX," an annual exhibition through the local chapter of AIGA, has grown from 120 submissions in 2006 to more than 1,000 this year, and graphic artists Chris Chilcoat and Adam Leviton have seen it since its grassroots beginnings, as has its founder, Kristin Kaineg, an assistant professor of art at Shepherd University.
