Historian to receive honorary degree from D&E
John C. Allen Jr., an architectural historian in Jefferson County, will receive an honorary doctor of letters degree from Davis & Elkins College during Saturday's commencement ceremonies.

Shepherd holds 140th commencement ceremonies
In the wings and hallways leading to Shepherd University's Butcher Center gymnasium, scores of soon-to-be university graduates waited anxiously Saturday for word to begin the procession that would culminate with a walk across the stage to accept their degrees and begin a new life's journey.

McDonald's new site gets OK
Martinsburg Planning Commission members unanimously approved the site plan for a new McDonald's restaurant in the Old Courthouse Square shopping center at the Courthouse Drive entrance off Edwin Miller Boulevard despite misgivings by several "Until there's an accident, it's OK," Reenie Raines said.
