To the MUST community and the Myers family:
I was riding alongside Prof. Myers for a little way Saturday morning; he was friendly and amiable and riding safely. Later that morning, we all passed the scene in Geode State Park. Of course, we all slowed down and pedaled softly through what was clearly a very scary scene. We had all seen situations like that earlier in the week, but one never knows how serious the situation is. Saturday July 25 was a beautiful day in southeast Iowa. Everyone who rode that day would agree it was wonderful. The wind was at our backs, we had less than fifty miles to go, and all the riders were friendly and in good spirits. I am very sorry for your loss, but take comfort in knowing that Dr. Myers was doing something he loved doing and having fun. It was a horrible accident, but occurred while loving and living life to the fullest. God bless you all. |
