I don't agree with what Sias has to say AT ALL! As far as Im concerned she is a racist herself! If a white person was to have ANYTHING that was JUST FOR WHITES it would cause a freakin riot! But blacks are allowed to have scholarships and colleges and TV channels where they make it clear it is geared to JUST BLACKS! How is it that you don't understand THAT IS RACIST! No one that I know has ever owned a slave OR been a slave! That is all in the past and EVRYONE needs to stop the racism! It is REALLY sad! And before everyone starts running their mouth I have a mixed daughter and I am married to a black man! I am as far from racist as it gets but I am also beyond sick of the reverse racism!

The reason why black people had to make their own scholarships and colleges and TV channels is because of the injustice and the prejudice they had to face being apart of a White-Owned scholarship programs, colleges, and TV stations. This doesn't really have anything to do with slavery but more so with what happened after slavery. People are always bringing up slavery as if it is the only thing that blacks have had to go through. What about Jim-Crow Laws stating separate but equal when things where anything but equal. That's why black had to fight for eqaulity, not just because things were seperate like separate bathrooms and whater fountains and neighborhoods, but because of the injustice of the government, and the humiliation from the media. What's wrong with having our own television stations, when if we want to be apart of someone else's they don't really want us there in the first place. So yeah it is relevant for blacks to have their own becauss even today there aren't many whites who want to incorporate us into the things they own. Yes we fought for equality and won.......but things aren't as equal as they claim. If whites can make and own their own scholarships, and colleges, and TV stations why can't blacks......Do we always have to ask for their permission in those things? There are more things out there for whites than for any black american even today.

that is the same way i feel i have nothing against blacks, they are alot of good black people, but the racist remarks need to stop both ways, and stop being one sided, we need to respect both sides equally, but i do have to say whites are being more civil than blacks anymore.

It sounds like you believe in separation of the races.
By the way, American is spelled with a capital A.

Thanks for the correction, however, I'm not saying to separate I'm just giving her some insight as to why blacks had to create their own resources. I was also saying that it is great for blacks to own their own scholarships and colleges and TV stations because it gives more access to those blacks who can't get that type of access from predominantly owned white businesses and such. Yes there are blacks who do have a chance to be accepted there but it is still very few. Besides, is there anything wrong with black having their own? Or being incharge of something they created?

Legally, whites are not allowed to discriminate any more in housing, education, jobs, etc.

However, whites who expect the problems caused by RACISM (JIM CROW, folks... this is not primarily about slavery per se) to magically disappear 5 seconds after LBJ signed the Civil Rights bill... are DREAMING and unrealistic, and essentially dodging the issue.

Yes, there is much anti-white racism around, and a lot of it in evidence on this forum. But I do not see why AS AMERICANS we should object to programs aimed at black people (or at Latinos, women, the poor generally, or whichever disadvantaged group) with the goal of eliminating the discrepancies, making us all TRULY equal.

I will be the first to criticize a black racist. But I am not going to deny the problems black people have faced, and the residual effects of those problems which still face us (the country as a whole).

Are we AMERICANS, united, together? Or are we still petty squabbling bigots full of divisiveness and hate?

I choose unity.

I think too many whites are poor or struggling to have this point of view about residual effects because they don't see residuals giving them an advantage in their individual lives like that.

Are there scholarships out there that ONLY WHITE people can apply for? If so please let me know because as far as I know any scholarship a white person can apply for so can a black person! All I am saying is it is not right for there to be anything scholarships, colleges, bathrooms WHATEVER IT IS, it is not right for it to be based on RACE! My daughter is mixed so I guess by the time she is old enough for college I better hope they have scholarships out there for inter-racial children! I love all people regardless of your color I base my opinion on people's character and I'm ready for this world to be equal for EVERYONE!

everyone has the right and ability to go to school and make something of themselves. If you read the article it even says the problem is the black students dropping out not getting into the school. If they are in school and dropping out then why should the rest of us help finance a program that will give them one more advantage then everyone else. I can understand setting up a program to help student get ready for school but by no means should it have anything to do with race. In fact I think the whole reverse racism thing is going a little far as is. Let me ask you this one question. What would people do I'm there was a miss white teen America contest

I don't think there is a problem with black people having scholarships, T.V stations, and etc...that are specifically for their race. However, I do think that if we had a WET ( white entertainment television ), or a few whites only scholarships, etc.., then it would be a problem because for some reason, that would not be considered equality, it would be considered racism. Go figure on that one! Oh, and how about a whole month set aside for white history month?

What about poor whites who have basically nothing?

Why is the image of a white guy sleeping next to a dumpster more believable in everyone's mind than a black guy sleeping by a dumpster?

I will tell you why, because you all think white privilege extends through classes but it doesn't, poor whites have it harder than ANYONE.

Poor white people have been shitted on by everyone except for various charities while poor blacks and other minorities do have a chance with these programs.

Do you think it is fair that black people who are poor have more chances to succeed because they are black than poor whites who have nothing?

Black people shouldn't get these programs anymore, this isn't the 60's, there are upper class blacks and upper class whites, there are middle class blacks and middle class whites and then there are those below and at the poverty line, but yet if you are not white and you are poor then you can get help and you do have a far better chance of making it than if you are poor and you are white.
Needless to say that is wrong and should be corrected somehow, either by getting rid of black and other minority programs or by including poor whites in every single one of those programs, no questions asked.

See no one seems to understand. White people don't need a White Entertainment Televion, why because they own pratcially all of the television stations out there in every country where white people dominate(and it doesn't have to be in majority. I can only name two Televison stations where there are black people who have more of an oppurtunity than they do getting on a White-Owned television station. Look at 96% of the people on television now. Who do you you see. White people. So of course when black people come out with something that they own they are going to include black people first and foremost, because in reality whether you notice this or not black poeple even today are not treated the same. That's why we have affirmative action. So therefore it goes both ways. If there is a predominately white owned business they have to accept a caertain amount of blacks, and if there is a black owned business they have to accept a certain amount of whites. Why do peolple think that affirmative action is made just for minorities. When peole ask why do black people have their own sometimes it makes me feel that they don't want blacks to succeed. Look at all the oppurtunities that whites have compared to blacks. Just because it says on a application we wont refuse you because of your color doesn't mean that they won't. I'm sure that it has happened to blacks today thousands of times. And as far as Black history month goes.....no one said that you have to observe it that's why it's called black history month. Why do Irish people get a special day or Jewish people get a special day.....I'm sure you celebrate Woman's history month!
Oh and you said your daughter is mixed wee guess what in America she's considered black so she won't have any problems getting a Scholarship specifically for blacks. Why can't some white liberals see that blacks get turned down for scholarships and promotions and whatever else there is to succeeding in life just because their black in this day and age. When a company has hired enough blacks I guarentee you they won't hire any more just because they feel that they have enough blacks. You may denie it but it's the truth.
And I hope you take all of your problems with rascism to your fellow white brethern, as well.

Just Keeping it Real Is..........B(L)ACK

The true definition of racism means that you have the power (CONTROL) to oppress (DOMINATE) a GROUP. Please explain to me, WHEN DID BLACKS in AMERICA EVER had the POWER to OPPRESS WHITES? My father (BLACK) generation (40’s thru 70”s) was hurt by the treatment he and others received at the hands of the white people in power. You (MOST whites) did nothing to STOP it.

Again, Black people cannot be racist - they can harbor prejudices towards other ethnicities, so what power do we (BLACKS) possess to keep you (WHITES) down? DID we (BLACKS) deny any race of attaining equality in housing, education, jobs? NONE. Some Caucasians have owned up to what has happened to us over the years. But if all don't admit that we have been harmed socially, emotionally, educationally, etc. we can not move on and do better.

STOP using the WORD “RACISM” on BLACKS in AMERICA. THERE is NO SUCH thing as REVERSE RACISM in AMERICA. YES, a BLACK man CAN be RACIST in other COUNTRIES that he holds POWER but NOT IN the U.S.

Just Keeping It Real For..........ever

Here is the solution to the problem.

Everyone and each side has its valid points but it should not be about color or race and just about the person and who they are.

I know its easier said than done but if we gave a valid effort to practice this, there would be less conflict.

We fail to realize we are all people.

On the UP side there IS Atlanta,GA. Even in a down economy it seems to be moving right along. Too bad its in that bad 'ol Racist South, huh?
