LaVerne Worthy, Ph.D., professor of psychology at Georgia Southwestern State University , is the 2013 recipient of the Professor of the Year Award voted on by the class of 2012.

Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter and President Jimmy Carter were at Georgia Southwestern State University Thursday afternoon for the second and final unveiling of the Rosalynn Carter health and human sciences complex.

During Georgia Southwestern State University's Honors Convocation earlier this month, nursing major Logan Hanley, a graduate of Southland Academy, was presented with the University's highest academic honor, the 2013 Outstanding Scholar Award.
