Poll: Support for marriage equality rises in North Carolina

A new poll shows support for LGBT marriage equality rising in North Carolina, a little more than two years after the state passed its anti-LGBT constitutional amendment. An Elon University Poll surveyed more than 1,000 North Carolinians and found that 45 percent support gay marriage.

Obama's Broken Promise Made No Sense. Polls Show That Amnesty Is Very Popular In Red States Too

All the Democrats defending Obama's decision to break his promise and not act to halt deportations before the end of the summer are making the same dumb arguments: that we need to win the Senate and and it's only eight weeks and something something Obama plays 10-dimensional chess. I'm sure the law-abiding families who are in the middle of deportation proceedings are super concerned about Obama's having to endure the "bad optics" of spending two years vetoing insane GOP bills and budgets.

Students staying elsewhere while dorm repaired after lightning strike

Students living in an Elon University residence hall struck by lightning late Wednesday are having to stay elsewhere until repairs are made in the building. The university reported that 85 students living in Janie Poole Brown Hall, one of the on-campus apartment buildings in The Oaks complex, had to evacuate, though no one was injured.

Lightning strike leads to damage at Elon residence hall

Eighty Elon University students were displaced Wednesday night when a lightning strike caused the sprinkler systems to activate and flood part of a building. According to Elon.edu, lightning entered through a dryer vent to Room 302 of Janie Poole Brown Hall at around 10 p.m. The strike went into the bathroom and blew a hole in the ceiling, according to the report.

Elon professor testifies she felted threatened by ACSO

An Elon University professor and member of a group advocating for better treatment of Hispanics by law enforcement moved her family out of Alamance County in 2011 because she believed the Sheriff's Office was threatening her.
