Online news site Vatican Insider reported that Joseph Chen Gong'ao was ordained Thursday in a ceremony attended by 800 as the bishop of Nanchong diocese in Sichuan province.

With the approval of the Holy See and the Chinese government, Father Joseph Chen Gong'ao, 47, is scheduled to be ordained on April 19 as bishop of Nanchong, a city of 7.3 million in central China.

Trial production will kick off in December at a new 200,000-barrel-per-day refinery being built by PetroChina in China's southwestern province of Sichuan, a local government official said on Wednesday.
