What ever will be will be. We think they have their mind made up unless they are playing with the union to get what they want for the time being.

It is their choice but it sure puts them Harley Davidson in a bad light playing with peoples lives meaning the workers and York area and the state of PA.

The Harley Company has lost a lot of respect not only from it's workers but many who believe in Harley's product and in respect to it's place in the Amercian economy.

Hope they are going to stay, too, but the union must play along and who knows how that will play out.

It's amost like finding out you have cancer and if the treatment is going to work or you're terminal...Lots of anxiety in the York area over this prolonged decision.

The move to KY makes sense given their modified business model to outsource many parts. There are many part suppliers to the auto and machinery industry in that area that could easily do this work.

I have no doubts about the ability for HOG management and their consultants to make a shrewd business decision. The wild card is their loyalty to the american worker. Dumping 2000 employees to the unemployment roles could be and image disaster and HOG is all about image (gots to be image, their product is fat, slow and fugly).

With the exception here, I doubt that very many people will care.

How so? Kentucky is not a right to work state. A union would stand a very good chance of forming at a Kentucky based Harley plant.

As soon as they dropped Tennessee from the list, Harley's decision became a logistical one and not one to spite the union.

Frank is an economic genius. He has already purchased a home in Kentucky and moved his family. In addition to his job at Harley in Kentucky, the most important reason for his move is he heard that Kentucky CIGARETTE PRICES are the lowest in the nation. So, regardless of Harley's move, Frank is off to Kentucky. Smoke 'em if you got 'em. I always looked up to Frank and his astute financial moves.
But seriously, I do "smell a rat" in Harley's DICKering with the York labor force. So much for their IMAGE, a$$holes!

Atheists want God out of Ky. homeland security
Full story: The York Daily Record
A group of atheists filed a lawsuit Tuesday seeking to remove part of a state anti-terrorism law that requires Kentucky's Office of Homeland Security to acknowledge it can't keep the state safe without God's ...

Ah, now there's the REAL reason Harley is moving to Kentucky. The image conscious pricks are afraid of the gun totin'/bible carryin' Pennsylvanians.
Yea, we're American Made, but "F" the American workers...real classy Harley. Frank won't like this but screw Frank.

I continue to be amazed at how many people don't realize the effect Harley moving would have on EVERYONE around here. Weather you work there, or not you will be effected. If you don't think you will, you are a fool....Here's hoping Harley stays put. I know plenty of companies in Kentucky that have unions, so I agree with the comment it may be more about logistics at this point. I will say KY workers will not expect $20/hr, I believe that too is playing a part in it. I really hope the union has finally opened its eyes & realizes their demands are ridiculous. Join the rest of us, who work for a decent salary & can make it work.

There are mnay local businesses with the capability to do the outsource work-those companies are already hurting because of the news Harley might leave. Lenders are squeezing...

Yes, many local companies, like New Standard, supply for HOG. My point was this type of company abounds in KY, so HOG is not tied to York because of this. The local companies may keep the work, if they can compete while covering the added logistics costs.
