Sacramento man gets jail time for failing to get job, pay child support

Yolo County Child Support Services Department Director Mark Jones today announced that Paul F. Kraft, 40, of Sacramento , admitted three counts of civil contempt for failing to look for work to support his child on Monday.

What if you cannot find work? I have been without a job for a year now and look EVERYDAY.

This guy owed less then $7000. Went to jail because he didn't get a job to pay child. My ex had a job at Carls Jr quit to not have to pay. They took his license and when he went to try to get back they let him pay $25 a month which only lasted 3 mos. He owes over $30,000 but gets SSI now so the back child support is "non collectalbe". Unbelievable. But I guess with all prison time he has done for his drug use that must compensate for the lack of payment to yolo co and myself. What's wrong with this system? And he wonders why he never see's his children.

How about the dead beat, lazy mom's that don't want to work and choose to stay at home assuming that the father's can just pay support to them when the father has his child half of the time. That's where the system is really screwed up, when they allow that to take place. BOTH parents are equally responsible for supporting their children. So many assume that it is just the father's. And, i'm a WORKING single mother.
