Patchy freezing rain and freezing drizzle have given the southcentral and southeast Kansas an icy glaze this morning, spawning several accidents in the Wichita metropolitan area.
Classes in Wichita are proceeding as planned, however, and no delays have been reported for arrivals or departures on the Mid-Continent Airport Web site.

Make-A-Wish gives Reno Co. boy trip to Fla.
“Then, we thought that would be a good thing to go around their (Rowdy's and Anna's) birthday”
Today, 9-year-old Rowdy Baker will board a plane with his parents and siblings for a trip that Rowdy is clearly excited about.
Rowdy, who has cerebral palsy, smiles widely when his parents asked him Sunday if he's ready for the weeklong trip to Disney World, Sea World and Universal Studios in Florida.
He and his family are making the trip through the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Kansas, which grants wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
Rowdy's trip is a milestone wish for the foundation in Kansas: It's the 900th wish granted in Kansas. Read more

Ice storms spur federal disaster aid
“It seems we've had more than our fair share of these requests over the past year, but at least we're getting the federal support to assist with recovery”
President Bush on Friday issued a disaster declaration for 60 Kansas counties -- including Sedgwick, Harvey, Butler and Reno -- struck by ice storms from Dec. 6 to 19.
The storms killed six and injured 13, while knocking out power to more than 183,000 customers.
The declaration means Federal Emergency Management Agency funds will be available to help state and local governments, and certain nonprofits including rural electric cooperatives, with emergency protective measures and debris removal. Read more
