Nursing home seeking new trial
An attorney representing a Danville nursing home wants a Des Moines County district judge to set aside a $600,000 verdict awarded to the family of a Yarmouth man who died in 2009 while living at the home.
Jury deliberates $15 million lawsuit
A jury will begin its deliberations today in one of Des Moines County's highest profile civil trials that included a plethora of medical evidence, heart-wrenching testimony and repeated skirmishes between a nationally known lawyer and a local district judge.
Asbury United Methodist Church, 2128 S. Main St., will hear the Rev. Jerry Rigdon's sermon, "Let's Take a Walk," at the 9:45 a.m. service Sunday with John 6:1-21. Burlington Baptist Church, 1225 Hagemann Ave., will hear the church's pastor, Kendall Adams, deliver the sermon at the 10:15 a.m. service Sunday.
