COLUMBIA COUNTY: More flooding, two possible tornadoes Thursday's heavy rains flooded roads and inundated basements throughout the county, and two possible tornadoes were sighted but no one was reported hurt.

The Root River's rise toward Derek Holtegaard's house and into his basement wasn't enough to drive the 26-year-old and his fiance away for the night.

Southwest Wisconsin thought it got the soaking of a century last August. But emergency management officials worried Monday that flooding across the region in recent days may prove even worse.

A series of storms has left the Midwest soggy and shaken, with damage that appears likely to reach hundreds of millions of dollars.

An earthen dam along a man-made lake gave way under severe flooding Monday, unleashing a powerful current that ripped several homes off their foundations and down the Wisconsin River.
