Worden native Angela Vaughn graduated April 17 with high honors from the basic cosmetology program at Tri-County Beauty Academy.

Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, the Madison County Sheriff's Department arrested 47 year old Diana Ray of the 2200 block of Richmond in Granite City for DUI-alcohol. 25 year old Kerry Grant of the 500 block of Colonial in Wood River for aggravated battery.

They thought it would never happen in Wood River, but on May 21, 1949, a deadly tornado hit Wood River at about 6 p.m. The twister, rated an F4 killed five people in Wood River and injured 55.
