Prior to becoming the familiar "ups man" in Wishek and the surrounding area, Schwehr served a 3½-year stint in the U.S. Air Force and did two tours of duty during the Vietnam War.

Wishek police officers soon will have the option of using a Taser to subdue fleeing, belligerent, or potentially-dangerous suspects.
