The United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the North Dakota Game and Fish Department are investigating the death and illegal possession of a mature bald eagle in rural Wishek.

The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for the area just before 8 p.m. on May 22, but the hail arrived suddenly, soon after that storm skirted the area with wind and rain.

Wildlife agencies are offering a reward for information about the death of a bald eagle left at a Wishek home in December.

City Council members have agreed to send a letter requesting that Wishek Inn ownership consider making upgrades to the motel.

There's big news this year - a countywide Rummage-O-Rama is slated for Wishek and Ashley on the same day.

The Prairie Places Festival, a public celebration of the heritage resources of North Dakota, gets underway May 18 at the Wishek Civic Center.
