Police: Man beats girlfriend in Winterville, leads officers on high-speed chase into Athens

A 26-year-old Athens man assaulted his girlfriend in Winterville this morning, then stole a car and led officers on a chase that reached 100 mph as he drove through eastern Clarke County, Winterville police said.
