53rd Street 2-mile extension opens Thursday with grand hopes for...

Not only will this newest major four-lane route help Waterway Village residents reach their closest shopping to the east - a future Publix on U.S. 1 at 53rd - but Winter Beach area residents can get to the Indian River Mall quicker by taking 53rd Street to the west, County Commission Chairman Gary Wheeler said this week.
