Thanks for the explanation. I did pretty well in criminal law class long time ago, but never had any real world experience with it. I read a federal indictment once and I recall each count being a predicate act violative of law. I do think there is some sort of merger whereby one can't be convicted of, for instance, both first and second degree murder because there is a single predicate act and the lesser merges into the greater upon conviction for the greater. Glad to see the killer locked up, though. |
