The Des Moines officer was working alongside a Windsor Heights officer to apprehend 41- year old Delbert Monahan, who was wanted for stealing a motorcycle in Urbandale.

An effort by a dozen GOP senators to ban traffic enforcement cameras come July 1 got pulled to the side of the road by the Iowa Senate's presiding officer.

The City Council met in a special session last week to select the finalists. They are: John Harrenstein of Eudora, Kan., Scott Bovick of Sarpy County, Neb., Chris Nosbisch of Norwalk, Dennis Durham of Parchment, Mich., Marketa George Oliver of Windsor Heights, and Thomas Turner of Des Moines.
