True to her word, Brooklyn Wilson, of Topeka, is continuing her grass-roots campaign to help lift up other teenagers and children who, like herself, have been victimized by bullies.

The Shawnee County Treasurer's Office closed for business shortly before 2 p.m. Tuesday after receiving notification the State of Kansas was shutting down treasurers' offices statewide to make an adjustment to the motor vehicle new system.

The treasurer's offices likely will stop taking new customers about noon Friday - in keeping with a trend that started Wednesday thanks to system malfunctions with the state's new motor vehicle software.

Candidates for this year's elections have until June 1 to file their intent to run.

Those who need their car tags renewed by the first half of May should mail their applications in as soon as possible.
