The North Coast Stand Down has been serving Humboldt County veterans since 2006. This year's organizers need your help in letting our local veterans know that Sand Down is for them. Too many have aliments, or have died, due to physical or mental injuries, related to their military service. Too many widows and veterans aren't aware of the resources that are available to them. Many could have avoided financial ruin if they knew.
The Stand Down serves all veterans by providing the tools to empower them. The non-profit organization is in its 4th year of supporting the mission to serve all veterans. They provide free food, lodging, benefit information, haircuts, transportation, entertainment, pet shelter and care, family and children services, Social Security and Medicare information, VA medical enrollment, and supplies. Perhaps even more important, veterans will find themselves among a group of people who appreciate what they have done for our country. The camaraderie that results is just another positive reason to take part in this year's Stand Down. The North Coast Stand Down is about healing. Widows of veterans will find counselors available to help them sort through the benefits they are entitled to. Carl Young Public Affairs Coordinator North Coast Stand-Down |
