"I think a tinted window law should be passed and enforced along with the cell phone law. So everybody is playing on a level field."

Guess what? The tinted window law already exists, and as usual around here, is never enforced. It is just another in the long line of laws that the morons in Santa Fe pass, and then it grows mold waiting to be enforced by the Keystone Cops or Deputy Dawg. Around here, nobobdy plays on a level playing field..........EVER!

"The president can save the taxpayers thousands by stop using Air Force 1 as his personal taxi cab"

What do you think he should take, when he flies on business or pleasure? American Airline or Southwest eh??

Think before you write.. He is the PRESIDENT... He flies a "tank" in the sky, his kids are in private school and him and his wife live with bodyguards.

Every president does it and will do it. It is to keep the President save.

Sound Off; "In response to the people that say there isn't a no-kill refugees here for animals, that is incorrect. There is one right up the road, the Desert Haven Animal Refuge and cemetery in Williamsburg /Truth or Consequences"

they are not a no kill facility, they have to turn animals away when they are full or the animals dont fit their criteria, just like the Safe Haven here. So where do you think the animals that get turned away go?
Just because they don't euthanize, doesnt mean they are a "no-kill" the turned away animals land up getting euthanized at the local shelter, then the shelter gets the bad press.

Hey Navy, boy you are right on the money. Either this person has been doing hard time for the last 20 years, freeze dried or been on some trip to the Twilight Zone because he or she doesn't know squat about socialism. I lived overseas for years in socialist countries and let me tell you something, it is not all what it is cracked up to be. There isn't nothing free over there, you think your taxes are high here, you should live in England for five or six years like I did. Remember, over there you don't have the same rights that you do here in America, you think about that too. This person should take a trip over to Europe or Asia and live among the natives for a few years before he or she comes back to America and made such dumb statements. If Socialism is so great, then what happened to the old Soviet Union and the old Warsaw Pack Nations? Does he or she thinks things are better off with Castro or Chavez? Ha! Who ever wrote that idiotic statement is probably smoking some pretty strong dope, because you would have to be a dope to write something like this in a public forum.

But Truth or Consequences is going socialist by the advise of our City Attorney and upon the direction of the City Commission.

They are trying to invoke the "English Rule" which is used extensively in socialist countries over the "American Rule" which is unique to the USA.

Ah...so is New Mexico's...or didn't you see the front page of yesterday's Albuquerque Journal.

I notice you only mentioned communist socialist countries and did not mention any democratic socialist countries.

(You do know that socialism refers to the economics and not the political, right?)

Most of the democratic socialist countries utilize what is a mixed market economy often referred to as the "Nordic model."

The Nordic model refers to the economic and social models of the Nordic countries (Iceland, Denmark, Faroe Islands, Finland, Sweden and Norway). This particular adaptation of the mixed market economy is characterized by more generous welfare states (relative to other developed countries), which are aimed specifically at enhancing individual autonomy, ensuring the universal provision of basic human rights and stabilizing the economy. It is distinguished from other welfare states with similar goals by its emphasis on maximizing labour force participation, promoting gender equality, egalitarian and extensive benefit levels, large magnitude of redistribution, and liberal use of expansionary fiscal policy.[1] The Nordic Model however is not a single model with specific components or rules; each of the Nordic countries has their own economic and social models, sometimes with large differences from the neighbours.

On the Index of Economic Freedom 2008, Denmark's rating is 11th highest of 162 countries (4th in Europe), Finland's 16th, and Sweden's 27th.[2]

So maybe that's the type of "socialism" the previous poster was referring to.

As of now, the Senate health care bill still contains the Cornhusker kickback, Louisiana purchase, Gator-aid and subsidies for unionized workers. I guess Americans are not all created equal.

When all of the public parking at the library is full because of all of the construction vehicles and other contractors, do you think it would be all right if I parked in the fenced-off area that says construction access only?

Good question. I have been there on many occasion when I have had to drive around the parking lot several times until someone leaves. It is very annoying. I was also told that staff are made to park across the street to make room for the customers and I thank them, but something here is not fair. Come on City Admin, help us all out.

law enforcement is a joke here in Las Cruces... it's not a place I wish to live but cannot leave thanks to owning a home and no prospects of a sale... being retired, I cannot afford to sell at 1/2 off what I paid. We have a mayor, city manager and a clone of Former Anti-white Police Chief Romero that make this city just one big pay toilet... we apy the admission price only to find the plumbing doesn't work. The growing dislike for us whites is another factor. So to all the Hispanics that diss'd me: Egualmente.. and can I date your mother? She must be a puta after all, she had you Paco.

"Socialism" is just a word. It defines a culture that is based upon the un-American notion that "we are all in this together." We are not "in it together" until April 15th and election day.. then somehow I am welcome to participate. But, other times.. stating negative opinions about America, I told to leave as i am not "patriotic" yet that is our nations legacy.. our theory of Govt was based on the notion that all Governments are evil by nature and we implemented procedures to throw "dem bums out"... so lets do that next election.. vote all incumbents out.. but careful not to vote back anti-constituent crooks like Steve Pearce and Pete Domenici. call me a "socialist" if you will... but if you do I'll you a NAZI.

No kill shelters are a noble ideal and I totally admire the people who run them but as long as people continue to allow their pets to reproduce irresponsibly (and don't go to these shelters to adopt when they seek a pet), the shelters are quickly over-run and have to turn animals away. Then what?

I agree with whoever said that the city is only concerned about HONEST citizens who have an occasional weed or two in their yards. It's complete harrassment, did these iddiots ever think that some people WORK, and DO pull the weeds when they have time?(I am talking about little tiny weeds, not big weeds that should be of any concern to them.) However, they REFUSE to do anything about all these bums who have junk piled up at their front doors and old cars up on cinder blocks in the yard. Why is that???? If you do waht you're supposed to most of the time, and WORK you're harrassed, but if you're lazy or are a gangbanger who has 10 kids and is on welfare your yard can look like crap and they won't bother you. Those rat-trap trailers that look like that should be burned and then the remains should be plowed away into the desert. This is how LC operates.

When the government is telling people how to live, what to eat, what to drive, what light bulbs to use.......We are a socialist country. Big Gov. is socialism. When the Gov. has to take care of and support the majority of a country, it is socialist! But of course this is just my opinion that happens to be back by a lot of facts.

Daily Horoscope for June 2

Libra

It's one of those difficult days when anything can and will happen. Someone you were relying on might let you down, plans could be changed at the eleventh hour or a machine could go on the blink. To make matters worse, your energy levels are very erratic, so you feel full of beans one minute and ready to go to sleep the next. Don't make the situation worse by eating foods that give you a high followed by a slump.
