As a daughter of a former Marine, an ex-spouse of an Air Force enlisted, and now a step mother of a son in the Army, who has just re-enlisted. Our son has done a tour in Germany and also 15 month tour in Iraq. I am sad to hear that some one as of yourself, who has protected our country over and over again as been deneied, not only into the VA hospital when desperatley needed, but that they now refuse to pay for such wonderful health care that you recieved. We tend to take care of others outside of our country, when in fact we should take of those who have protected and taken care of us. Keep of the fight.

He needs to find the nearest Veteran's Service Center and seek their assistance. I think the problem is that he is not entitled to civilian health care and must be treated in a VA Hospital. If the VA decides to refer him to a civilian medical facility then the VA will pay for the services. If he is retired, normal or medical, then he is covered under TRICARE.

If all else fails I recommend he contact one of our elected representatives and ask them to look into his case. The VA hates it when a congress person starts asking questions about a specific case.
