Summerlin, Nev. Students at Merryhill School in Summerlin, Nev., are getting a lesson in generosity this holiday season by giving to hundreds of less fortunate students at Whitney Elementary.

Susan Donaldson, water quality specialist for the University of Nevada Cooperative Extension, won a gold award and a silver award from the Association of Natural Resource Extension Professionals for excellence in an article or newsletter.

Officials will unveil a historic marker identifying Whitney Township as the oldest unincorporated township in Clark County.

The village of Blue Diamond will celebrate its history Saturday, Oct. 24 at 9:30 a.m. with the dedication of a historic marker at the corner of Village and Diamond, across from the Village Market.
