The lake behind Condit dam was created 90 years ago and has formed a beautiful trout ecology. I've caught 24" Rainbow there. It is also home to an endangered green frog. Having rafted the river, I know first hand that the mostly solid rock sides are NOT salmon spawning grounds. So now the "greenies", with FERC and the Wash. Dept; of Ecology will destroy an entire 90 years old ecosystem, ignore an endangeered species and fill the lower White Salmon basin with silt...and IT IS a salmon spawning area. Oh, yeah, it will also remove 11 Megawats of hydro power from the grid - non-polluting, renewable hydro electricity. So will the coal fired electric plant in Boardman replace that power? With a plant that is a major source of pollution in the Gorge. This is idiocy.
