A man was arrested Saturday evening after he allegedly opened fire on deputies who were responding to check on him at his residence at 3291 Roy Messer Highway.

Deputies responded to a domestic welfare check request at a home on Roy Messer Highway in White Pine shortly before 3:00 p.m. Authorities said when the deputy arrived on the property, Dana Morelock started cursing and shot several times at him with a pistol.

The man who helped hide the woman who killed a triple -amputee for drugs and cash in December 2011 pleaded guilty Monday in Jefferson County Circuit Court, officials said.

Detective Kevin Benton and Detective Paula Wilson charged Jerrica Lashae Jackson, 20, 4350 Cosby Highway, Newport, and Jacqueline Nicole Holt, 23, 1313 Shelia Drive, White Pine, on charges of burglary of the home of Arlene Walker, 1048 Old Greeneville Highway, Newport, and taking items belonging to Walker and to William Worley.
