ELIZABETHTOWN a ' Candidate filings for the Nov. 3 municipal elections in Bladen County opened Monday, and first in line was the Elizabethtown foursome of Ricky Leinwand, Charles DeVane, Herman Lewis and Rufus Floyd.

Mary Strickland, curator of the Southport branch of the N.C. Maritime Museum, may see her facility moved into the barracks building at the nearby historic Fort Johnston.

The hundreds of Water Festival visitors brought a busy weekend for the White Lake Police Department.

The White Lake Town Board voted unanimously to approve an agreement to refinance the loan on the municipal complex with BB&T. The amount to be refinanced is $509,249.62 at an interest rate of 3.69 percent.
